10/11 -  The Mariners won the 22 and over Finals with a dramatic game 3 victory against the Black Sox, 5-2 in 14 innings.

Cliff Peasley came on in relief of Jimmy Pollock in the 4th inning and the two combined to limit the Black Sox to 2 runs in the extra inning affair. Peasley gave up just one unearned run on five hits and had nine K's in his 9 1/3 inning of work, all on one day rest.

Todd Incantalupo, pitching a full game for the third time in four days, was equally masterful for the Black Sox before finally yielding the ball in extra innings.

The Mariners had 15 hits and were lead by Eddie Colvin (3 hits) and Dave Bushnell, who had two key hits and two RBI.  Josh Blais, Mike Lunardelli, and Nick Balch also had two hits for the Mariners.
 

Congratulations to both teams for a series well played. 


10/10 -  The Black Sox came back to take game 2 of the 22 Finals Series, 2-0.  Todd Incantalupo was unquestionably the star on this night, pitching on just one day's rest.  His complete game gem included 14 K's while allowing just three hits.

Steve DiNezza had three hits and an RBI and Stephen Acciardo had two hits to pace the Black Sox at the plate.

Dan Pierce was solid for the Mariners, giving up just two runs and striking out
six in the complete-game loss.  Dave Rose, Mike Lunardelli, and Dave Bushnell had the only hits for the Mariners.


10/9 - The Mariners took game 1 of the 22 Finals Series 11-2 behind the efforts of Cliff Peasley, who pitched seven innings for the win before being relieved by Jim Pollock who closed it out.

The Mariners had 16 hits in all, with Dave Bushnell, Logan Collins, and Mike Lunardelli each getting two hits and two RBI apiece.  Matt Finlayson, Eric Page, Mike Sapala, and Spencer Tremblay also had two hits to lead the Mariners at the plate.

For the Black Sox, Jay Deanseris and Bill Lepre each had 3 hits for their squad.  


10/8 - Red Sox win the 50 division championship.  Rick Machado and Jim Bracey pirched and batted the R.I.  Red Sox (50's) past the Marlins in game 2 of their championship series at Gagne, 9-6 to clinch the tittle for the Red Sox. Machado limited the potent Marlins offense to 4 earned runs through 5 innings and Bracey shut them down on  3 hits and 1 run through the final 4 innings to pick up the win.

Bracey was 3-4 with 5 RBI's (including the go ahead RBI in the 6th to break a 5-5 tie, and Machado had a clutch, two out, bases loaded single in the same inning to drive in two more insurance runs. Dom Coro(2 R, 1RBI) was 3-4, and Dave Masse was 2-3 ( (3R, 1HBP, 1BB) with a double for the Sox.

Bobby Parks (7 innings), and Rich Bowen (2 innings, 0 runs) both pitched well for the Marlins.  Lee Andrews was 3-4 with a run scored and an RBI for the Marlins. Steve Pexietio (2 R, 1 RBI, 2 doubles), Tim Hickey (RBI), Rich Bowen (RBI, 2B), Mark Pari ( 2 R) and John Turner all had 2 hits. 


10/2 - The Mariners banged out 17 hits in decided game of series vs. RiRa on Sunday. Dave Bushnell was the catalyst with four hits and six RBI while Josh Blais had four hits and two RBI.  Mike Lunardelli had three hits and Nick Balch had two hits to help pace the attack.

Dan Pierce got the win going the first five innings before being relieved by Cliff Peasley to close it out.  The Mariners will move on to the finals for the 22 and over. 


10/2 - Greg Sion earned his second win of the series by pitching the Rangers into the 42 division finals.  The Rangers topped the Warriors by a 6-2 score.  The offense was led by Mike Trudeau and Jay Quinn.  Each had three hits on the day and Trudeau homered for the eventual winning run.  The Rangers will face the Salty Dogs in the best of three finals. 


10/2 - Dave Masse scattered 7 singles and 2 earned runs in pitching the Red Sox 50's to a 6-4 opening game win in the 50's Division finals @ Gagne.

Scottie Tainsh (R, 2RBI) was 3-4 with an HBP in 5 plate appearances, while Keith Fisher (R, RBI), George Nasuti (2RBI), Ed Vescera (R) and Jim Bracey (R) all had 2 hits to pace the Red Sox 14 hit attack. Mike Fortin was 3-4 for the  Marlins.


 9/18 - Cliff Peasley gave up just 1 unearned run and 4 hits while striking out 15 in pitching all 12 innings of the Mariners 2-1 extra inning win.  Nick Balch and Mike Lunardelli each had 2 hits with Balch driving in the winning run in the bottom of the 12th.

Wily Moreno and Edwin Gonzalez combined for all 12 innings, allowing just 2 runs and 9 hits over that span.  


9/18 - The 50's Red Sox' Rick Machado shut out the Salty Dogs for 6 and 1/3 innings, scattering 8 singles before giving way to Jim Bracey, who picked up the win via 2 and 2/3 innings of 3 hit, shutout relief.

Bracey entered the game with one out and the bases loaded in the 7th inning and limited the Dogs to an RBI sac fly by Jeff Regan and an infield RBI single by Ed McGuire (both charged to Machado) that tied the game at 2, before retiring the side and eventually picking up the win as the Red Sox (50's) defeated the Salty Dogs (50's) 3 to 2 to move on to the 50's Championship game next weekend.

Dom Coro (RS) was 3-4 for the Red Sox and Rick Machado (RBI) and Jim Cooney each had two hits. George Nasuti singled and scored the game winning run in the bottom of the 7th. Sox catcher Dave Masse threw out the potental tying run on a stolen base attempt with one out in the 9th to preserve the victory.

Bobby Tremblay (RS), Buster Andrews (RS),Tony Lizzotte (2B) and Noah Clark all had two hits for the Dogs.

The Red Sox will face the Marlins in the 50's championship series next weekend. 


 9/18 - Steve Lallo went the distance in game two of the 42 semi-finals between the Warriors and Rangers.  The Warriors split the series with a 4-2 win.


9/17 - Dave Masse hurled the Red Sox (50's) to an 8-6 victory over the Salty Dogs (50's) evening their semi-final playoff series at 1 game apeice. Masse  (1R,1RBI) paced the Sox offense with a 3-5 (2 2B's) day at the plate while Keith Fisher (1R, 1RBI) and Ed Vescera (2b, 1R) chipped in with 2 hits each.

Bobby Tremblay was 3-4 for the Salty Dogs, while Buster Andrews, Doc Hamilos and Jeff Regan all had two hits. 


9/17 - Greg Sion pitched a complete game shutout to lead the Rangers over the Warriors, 1-0.  Oil Can Boyd took the loss for the Warriors. Mike Trudeau led the Rangers' offense and knocked in the lone run. Sion gave up just five hits, struck out five and walked one in the victory.  The Rangers now lead the semi-final series 1-0.  


9/10 - On Saturday, Edwin Gonzalez Pitched a complete game allowing one hit and shutting out the steaming bats of the Colt 45s, 7-0.  The Toros scored their seven runs on ten hits. Waldy Rodriguez and E. Gonzalez each had two hits and Duane Suero led the way with three hits helping Los Toros advance to the 2nd round of the playoffs. 


9/3 - Jim Bracey pitched the complete game win, hurling the Red Sox 50's past the Yankees 50's 6-2 @ Burr Park on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. In addition to limiting the Yanks to 1 earned run, Bracey was 2-4 at the plate with a run scored. Rick Machado (RBI, R), Ed Vescera (RBI), and Jack Kaveny (2 R) were all 2-4 for the Sox. Dom Coro had a 2 RBI single to give the Sox a lead they would  never relinquish in the 3rd and Jim Cooney capped the scoring with a long RBI double in the 6th to put the game out of reach.

Joe Rossi took the hard luck loss for the Yanks allowing just 4 earned runs over 8 innings while pacing the Yanks offense with 2 hits and their lone RBI. Jeff Cabral, Jeff Read and Mike Soares also chipped in 2 hits apiece for the Yanks.

8/13 - Bebe Figeroa relived an injured Gary Keil in the 2nd inning and pitched 5 and a third innings of relief, scattering 7 hits and 3 earned runs to pick up the come from behind win for the Salty Dogs (50's) over the Red Sox(50's). Juan Arias cloed out the win with 2 innings of 4 hit, 2 run relief.

Trailing 5-2 in the 7th,  The Salty Dogs staged a 2 out rally scoring 8 runs on 8 hits including a 2RBI triple by Buster Andrews and clutch 2 run double by Noah Clark. Clark was 2-2 with 3 RBI for the Dogs while Buster Andrews (2B, R, 3 RBI) and Bobby Tremblay (R, 2 RBI) were both 3-4. Tony Lizzotte and Danny Doyle both had 2 hits for the Dogs.

George Nasuti (R) was 3-4 and Jim Cooney (2R, 2RBI) was 3-3 with 2 walks for the Red Sox. Dave Masse (R, RBI), Dom Coro (RBI), Rick Machado (2R) and Ed Vescera (R, RBI) all chipped in 2 hits for the Sox.


8/13 - Dave Masse pitched a complete game shutout, limiting the Salty Dogs (50's) to just 5 hits as the second place Red Sox pulled within a point of first place. Dom Coro (2RBI), Keith Fisher (R) and Tony Mateus (2 2B, 2R) were all 2-3 for the Sox.  Dave Masse(R, RBI) had a triple and sac fly while Scott Owen had 2 RBI for the Sox.

Juan Arias was 2-2 for the Salty Dogs.


8/02 - Willie Moreno pitched a comple game allowing three runs and striking out 17 in a Los Toros 8-3 win over the Mariners. In the top of the 8th, the Mariners tied the game at 3 however Los Toros were able to go ahead in the bottom of the inning after a bases loaded clearing double by Henry Sanchez.


7/31 - George Nasuti blasted a mammoth 2 run clutch homer over everything in left in the final inning to lead the Red Sox (50's) to a late game 10-9 come-from-behind win over the Eagles (50's)@ Gagne.

Rick Machado gutted it out and picked up the complete game win on a day when he admittedly did not have his best stuff as he scattered 12 hits (11 singles) and 6 earned runs. Steve O'Neil pitched 7 1/3 effective innings for the Eagles and was in line for the win before giving up Nasuti's game winning blast.

Nasuti (HR) was 3-4 with 4 RBI and a run scored for the Sox, while Rick Machado (1R), Jim McHugh (1RBI, 1R) and Jim Cooney (2B, 1RBI, 1R) each had 2 hits.

Paul Tobin (1RBI, 1R), Cyvornik (1RBI, 1RS) and  Walter Topp (1R) all had 2 hits for the Eagles.


7/30 - Keith Fisher and Jim Bracey pitched the Red Sox (50's) to a 14-3 victory over the Eagles @ Burr Field in Warren. Fisher yielded 8 hits and 2 earned runs in picking up the win while Bracey allowed 0 hits and 0 runs with 4Ks to pick up the save.

George Nasuti (1 RBI, 2R), Jim Bracey (2RBI, 1R) and Jim Cooney (1RBI, 1R) were all 2-4 for the Red Sox. Keith Fisher was 1-3 with 2 BB and 3 runs scored.

Mike Goduto (1R) and Paul Lyvornik (2RBI) were both 2-3 for the Eagles.


7/24 - The Red Sox (50's) and Yankees (50's) followed a pitchers duel tie game on Saturday with a 16-16 slug-fest tie on Sunday. This time it was the Yankees with the last innning multi-run rally to tie with Ernie Ricci stroking a clutch one out bases loadeded single in the bottom of the 9th to drive in two runs with the tying run scoring on the same play.

Steve Borg was 5-5 with a double, 4 RBI and 3 runs scored for the Yanks while Art Samos (3B,3R) was 4-5 and Mike Fox was 4-4 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored.

Scott Tainsh (2B, 3R) was 4-5 for the Red Sox, while Keith Fisher(4RBI, 1R), Ed Vescera (2B, 1R), Jim McHugh (1RBI, 2R), Tony Mateus (2RBI, 2R) and Jack Kaveny (2RBI, 2R) all had 2 hits. Rick Machado (2R) had a double and 3 RBI for the Sox as well.


7/23 - A tight pitchers duel between former long-time teammates Jim Bracey (Red Sox 50's)and Joe Ros i (Yankees 50's) ended in a 6-6 tie thanks to a 2 out 9th inning rally by the Red Sox to erase a 6-2 Yankee lead.

Tony Mateus was the hero for the Red Sox with a clutch gap double that plated 3 runs included the tying run.

 Joe Rossi limited the Sox to 6 hits, and one earned run with 6  K's. Jim Bracey scattered 10 hits allowing 2 earned runs with 7K's for the Sox.

Jim Cooney (1R) had two hits for the Red Sox. Jeff Read (1R) and  Joe Perruzzi (1R, 2 RBI) had 3 hits for the Yankees.


7/17 - In a battle for first place in the 50's division,  Jim Bracey pitched the Red Sox to the complete game 10-9 win allowing 7 earned runs to the hard hitting Marlins and striking out 7. The Marlins Lee Andrews scattered 6 earned runs over 7 innings in taking the hard luck loss while Bobby Parks closed out the final two innings allowing 0 runs on 2 hits and 3 K's.

Tony Mateus was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and a run scored for the Red Sox. Keith Fisher (1R), Dom Coro (1RBI, 2R) and George Nasuti ( 2RBI, 1R) were all 2-4 for the Sox and Nasuti and Ed Vescera (2RBI) both had clutch two RBI hits to complete big innings for the Sox.

Steve Pexioto was 4-5 for the Marlins with 3 doubles and 2 runs scored, while Tim Hickey (3RBI, 1R) and Bob Sirpenski (2RBI, 1R) each had 3 hits for the Marlins.

The game ended on a major league quality defensive play at 1B by Coro who dove to his right for a screaming ground ball headed into rightfield, and flipped to Bracey from his knees a step before the runner reached first for the final out before the tying run reached home.


7/3 - The Eagles (50's) defeated the Red Sox (50's) 15 to 12 at Gagne on 7/3. Paul Tobin was 3-4 with 2 RBI and picked up the win with 4 innings of 4 hit, 5 run relief, and Mike Goduto, Cubby Karbowski, Brown and Cunningham all had 2 hits for the Eagles. Dom Coro was 3-4 with 4 RBI, George Nasuti was 3-3 with an RBI and Jim McHugh (2R) and Scott Owen (2 RBI) each had 2 hits for the Red Sox who suffered their first loss of the year.


7/2 - Rick Machado picked up his 3rd win of the season as he pitched the Red Sox (50's) past the Yankees (50's), by a 12-7 final score @ Gagne on 7/3. Jim Cooney and John Karbowski each had 2 hits for the Red Sox, while Steve Readey had a double and 2 RBI, and George Nasuti had the game winning hit, 2 RBI and 3 walks on the day. Jim McHugh also had 3 walks (and a HBP) and Jack Kaveny had 3 HBP's for the Sox.

Ted Kaiser had 3 hits for the Yankees and Art Samos, Dave Saad and Tim Conley each had 2 hits for the Yanks.


6/30 - Andrew Smiley threw a six-inning no-hitter for Rira-22 against the Seadogs.  He gave up one walk and struck out 11.  The game was only six innings due to the mercy rule.  Final score 13-0.

5/29 - Rick Machado (2-0-1) went 6 strong innings on the mound , scattering 7 singles and 4 runs, while Jim Bracey closed out the win with three 1 hit, shutout innings to earn the save in leading the RI Red Sox (50's) to an 8-4 win over the Salty Dogs at Pierce field. Dave Masse (2R, 1RBI) was 2-4 with a double, Dom Coro was 2-3 with 2 RBI and Ed Vescera was 2-4 with 2 RBI and  1 run scored to pace the Red Sox 13 hit attack. Bob Trembley (1RBI, 1R) was 2-3, Bob Bonilewicz(1 RBI) was 2-3  and Marc St. Jean had a single and 2 RBI to lead the Salty  Dogs offense.


5/24 - Pierce field, Dan Pierce (6)Eric Stamps (7-8) Cliff Peasley(9th) ;Allowed just one run over 9 innings. Justin Lamboy 3 hits , Dave Bushnell 2 hits ; helped in the Mariner's win. Todd Incantalupo pitched well , and went all nine for the Black Sox allowing only 3 earned runs.


5/22 - Kevin Wilder threw a complete game one-hit shutout for the 22-Tigers against the Turfer Tribe.


5/20 - The Mariners beat the Colt 45's 8-3 Friday night as Darrin Cummiskey pitched 6+ innings for the win and supplied the key hits at the plate, knocking in 3 runs.  "Doc" Tomolonis also had 2 hits for the Mariners


5/13 - Riptide was down by 1 run bottom of the 9th bases loaded 2 outs Frankie Botelho  at the plate and punched a single to right field for a base hit knocking in two runs for the Riptide win

5/7 - The R.I. Red Sox overcame a 7-3 6th inning deficit with a 4 run 8th inning game tying rally, and a 5 run 9th, to defeat the West Bay Eagles 12-7 @ Gagne. Scottie Owen, Dave Masse, and Jim Cooney all had key 2 RBI hits. George Nasuti had a key RBI single to tie the game and Rick Machado had the game winning RBI single in the 9th. 

Ed Vescera with 3 hits (1 RBI), and Scott Owen (2R, 2RBI), Scott Tainsh (2B, 3R), Keith Fisher (2R, 1RBI), Tony Mateus (1R/1RBI) and Jack Kaveny (1R) all with 2 hits, paced the Red Sox offense. Cubby Karbowski and Savornik both had 3 hits for the Eagles. Jim Bracey picked up the win for the Sox in relief of Rick Machado (6 IP, 2 ER), scattering 4 hits and 0 runs with 2K's over the 4 final 3 innings.


(Burr Park, Warren) The Red Sox and Eagles battled to a 13-13 tie, in a slug fest at Burr Park. Keith Fisher( 2B, 2R, 1RBI) and Tony Mateus (1R, RBI) each had 3 hits for the Red Sox and Dom Coro (2B, R, 3 RBI), George Nasuti ( 2 2B, 2R, 3 RBI), Rick Machado(2R, RBI)and Jim Cooney(2R) each had two hits to pace the Red Sox 18 hit attack. P. Tobin was 4-6 with 2 Runs scored and 2 RBI, while Mike Goduto ( 3 2B, 3R, 2RBI)and Ian Donnis (R, RBI) both had 3 hits for the Eagles. Rick Machado and Steve O'Neil pitched complete games for the Sox and Eagles in a game halted by the time limit.


The Salty Dogs were honored before a game at URI recently where Noah Clark threw out the ceremonial first pitch!
